Sometimes it's difficult to convince the customers to migrate to a new version of DBMS, like IDS 11.50. If they aren’t a DBA or technical people they can’t understand the plus inside the new products. The things change if we can put these new features inside applications like an ERP. This presentation will show you how we made this with IDS 11.50. We studied the new features of IDS 11.50 choosing the more interesting ones. We choose the new feature of HDR that allows to write on the secondary server. It would be useful to permit to the customer to decide where running the single program (primary or secondary) depending on the characteristics of the program (read only, with a few or many instructions of writes).Another interesting feature is the “SQL history tracing”.If the server’s performancebecomes poor, the customer can see the last instructions executed, filtered by execution time. This is what was implemented inside the ERP, making it very simple to use for all of our customers.
